晏子辞婚。春秋时期，齐景公有个女儿，从小就生得乖巧可爱，特别惹人喜欢，齐景公对她更是爱如掌上明珠。齐景公从宫中挑选出品学兼优的女官，对女儿辅导培养。随着时间一天一天地过去，女儿长大了，不仅相貌漂亮，而且知书达礼，落落大方，成了朝野皆知的绝代佳人。渐渐地，女儿到了谈婚论嫁的年龄，可把齐景公愁坏了。许多上卿,大夫都想让自己的儿子娶到这位佳人。一来可以跟国君联姻，即使以后有什么做得不对的地方，也不至于遭到砍头,抄家的惩罚；再者，百官知道后都会来巴结自己，说不定能捞到很多的好处。但是当时有个规矩，就是诸侯之女嫁给诸侯之子，可景公担心把女儿嫁到别的国家去，父女就再难见面了，而且一旦两国交战，女儿的处境就更难了，他放弃了这种想法。他又打算把女儿下嫁给国内的臣民，这样是离女儿近一些，可以常见到女儿。但他又担心门不当户不对，被人笑话，便也放弃了这种想法。他想来想去想到了晏子，晏子身为齐国的相国，女儿嫁过去，做一位相国夫人，也不算辱没门庭。但他不知道晏子是否同意，不能贸然行事，必须亲自去听听晏子的意见。这一天，齐景公坐车来到相国晏府。晏子见国君到来，慌忙出来拜见，说道：不知君侯光临，有失远迎，臣罪该万死。齐景公说：相国不必客气，寡人在宫中呆腻了，来到相府与相国唠唠家常，不必大惊小怪。晏子吩咐家人赶快摆酒，为君侯接风。既然是家宴，晏子也就不拘礼了，唤出相国夫人来给齐景公斟酒。齐景公问：这是相国夫人吗。晏子回答：对，这是臣的糟糠之妻。齐景公等相国夫人退下后，说：唉。真是又老又丑啊。寡人有个女儿，又年轻又漂亮，就把她嫁给相国做妻子吧。晏子离开坐位，对着齐景公恭敬地回答说：现在她是又老又丑，可我与她生活在一起已经很长时间了，因此也赶上过她又年轻又漂亮的年华。况且人都是在年轻时把将来年老时托付给对方，在漂亮时把将来丑陋时托付给对方，我已接受了她的托付，对她做出终身的承诺了。君侯想赏赐给我一个年轻美貌的女子，难道是想让我背弃妻子的托付而抛弃她，另寻新欢吗。晏子说完，向景公拜了两拜，婉言拒绝了这件婚事。大道理：夫妻之间应信守对爱情的庄严承诺，不可因对方年老色衰而喜新厌旧。
